DSCHUNGEL WIEN - Theatre for Young Audience,

established in 2004 in theMuseumsQuartier Wien, is an open centre and platform for arts and culture and a unique example of a theatre for young audiences with a national and international reputation.


The name DSCHUNGEL WIEN Theatre for Young Audience also stands for its programmeme. The diversity of performing art forms, the plenitude of themes that life offers , the craziness and spontaneity of young people - all that can be experienced at DSCHUNGEL WIEN.


With more than 600 performances per season, DSCHUNGEL WIEN presents a diverse range of events with a main focus on artistic quality. The programme covers the whole spectrum of performing arts: drama, narrative and puppet theatre, as well as music theatre, dance and interdisciplinary forms for all ages.


International guest performances and festivals (for example the SZENE BUNTE WÄHNE DANCE FESTIVAL every year in February or the music festival DSCHUNGEL WIEN MODERN in November), single and co-productions as well as premieres of Viennese groups and from other regions of Austria are part of the programme. Every year there is a focus within the programme on a specific country.


The promotion of young and upcoming talents also plays an important role at DSCHUNGEL WIEN: Within the project named "schreibzeit" young authors are supervised and tutored during the whole year. In "Jungwild" a prize for young directors and ensembles was launched in cooperation and with support from ASSITEJ Austria offering professional training in the field of dramaturgy. The DSCHUNGEL-ACADEMY offers special education for students: Lectures, attendance at performances and the participation in the process of producing a performance give a practical insight into the theatre and its processes. The target audience is young people between 18 months and 25 years old. More than 50.000 spectators per season come to the events at DSCHUNGEL WIEN.


DSCHUNGEL WIEN has two stages, a foyer and a seminar room. The DSCHUNGEL deli café complements the variety of cultural events with light meals and drinks. It invites children and families as well as youngsters and young adults to relax in a nice and intimate atmosphere. This also includes artists!
